Wilfried Nancy declared he did not fear the sack, claiming, “We are very near to things turning around,” in the wake of edging perilously close to being fired with a comprehensive setback against Rangers.
The home side had led Rangers at half-time but a disastrous second period allowed Rangers to draw level on points with the reigning Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was appointed from Columbus Crew, has now overseen six defeats in his last eight games.
“The board and I are united at the club,” said the manager.
Asked directly about whether he was concerned, the 48-year-old responded: “It’s not on my mind. I concentrate on discovering solutions to help my team to excel on details.
Hundreds of supporters displayed their anger – directed at the dugout and directors – by protesting outside the stadium. The hierarchy are thought to be considering to return to the interim manager, who had a fruitful caretaker period last year, if the Frenchman were sacked.

“The standard we had at times was really, really, really high. That happened. I wouldn't say that if it was untrue. But that’s why, regarding outcomes, I noted we've seen this before. That’s why I believe we are really close to things turning around. Right now: small things.”
“There were many, many good things that we did, once more. But now comes down to sustaining it. My narrative would change if I didn't believe it. This is why I am convinced we will manage to get back on track.”
The victorious boss was cautious about a championship push even after what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can develop a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the group is outstanding.”
