The acclaimed broadcaster and filmmaker, Sir Humphrey Burton, has died at 94 years old.
His passing occurred at his home, in the company of his family.

Born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, in 1931, Burton became one of the industry’s most admired broadcasters, bringing the joy of classical music to the general public.
In the 1960s and 70s, he held the position of the BBC's head of music and arts and was honoured with accolades for seminal programmes like The Golden Ring.
The creation of the Young Musician of the Year in 1978, spearheaded by, propelled the careers of musicians like Nicola Benedetti.
Heartfelt tributes poured in, acknowledging his enormous impact on the world of arts broadcasting.
One prominent executive said, “This is tragic news – but what a life, and what a legacy... A man so full of elegance, warmth, and brilliant anecdotes.”
