Trump Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, informed the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
